Laurens County (Georgia)

The Laurens County is a county located in the state of Georgia in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat), Dublin, which was named after the ancient home of the wife of Jonathan Sawyer.

Geography

The County is located a few kilometers east of the geographic center of Georgia and has an area of 2120 square kilometers, of which 16 square kilometers of water are bordered clockwise to the following counties: Johnson County, Treutlen County, Wheeler County, Dodge County, Bleckley County and Wilkinson County.

History

Laurens County was formed on December 10, 1807 from parts of Wilkinson County and Washington County. It was named after Colonel John Laurens, a soldier and statesman from South Carolina during the American Revolutionary War.
