Laurent Beauvais

Laurent Beauvais (* June 24, 1952 in Nogent -le- Rotrou, Eure- et- Loir ) is a French politician. He is a member of the Socialist Party and President of the Regional Council of Basse -Normandie region.

Life

According to his economic and administrative sciences studies at the University of Caen, Sciences Po Paris and the University of Paris -Dauphine, he joined in 1978 in the service of science management in Paris. Later he worked at the Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS ) and in 1988 Chief of Staff of the socialist Research Minister Hubert Curien. From 1993 to 1997 he worked again at the CNRS and was thereafter to 2008 Deputy Director of GANIL, a particle accelerator in Caen.

His political activity began at the age of 21, when he joined the Socialist Party. In 1977 he was elected to the municipal council of Mortrée, where he remained until 1989. In the same year he was appointed deputy mayor of Argentan. The first time elected to the Regional Council of Basse -Normandie in 1998, he was there in 2004 Vice- President of the Regional Council. On 3 April 2008 he was successor in the office of the Regional President, as his predecessor Philippe Duron as the new mayor of Caen on the grounds of incompatibility between this can not continue.
