Laurent Belissen

Belissen Laurent ( born August 8, 1693 Aix -en- Provence, † February 12, 1762 in Marseille) was a French composer of the late Baroque.

Laurent Belissen was a student of the " maître de musique " Guillaume Poitevin at the choir school of the cathedral of Aix -en- Provence. From 1722 was Belissen successor of Esprit -Antoine Blanchard ( 1696-1770 ) as " maître de musique " of the Abbey of Saint -Victor in Marseille, the city in which he was the rest of his life working. He also directed the " Académie des concerts", which consisted 1717-1793.

His work includes mainly " Grands Motets " and Magnificat and Lamentovertonungen and several trade fairs, of which the " fair s " Symphony in D only survived the time in fragments.
