Laurent Fournier (2011)

Laurent Fournier ( born 14 September 1964 in Lyon ) is a French former football player and current coach. With his colleague and namesake Hubert Fournier he is not related.

Playing career

In his youth Fournier played in youth a football club in Villeurbanne. In 1980, he began his professional career at Olympique Lyon. There he played for eight years before moving to local rivals AS Saint- Étienne. Only two years later, Fournier went to Marseille, with whom he reached the final of the European Cup of Champions 1991. A year later, Fournier moved to Paris SG. There it took him three years to 1994 to switch to Girondins Bordeaux. Again, a year later he moved back to Paris SG Fournier. With the Parisians, he won the 1996 European Cup Winners' Cup; Final Rapid Wien was defeated 1-0. In that game Fournier was also 78 minutes replaced by Francis Llacer. Only three years later he went to SC Bastia, where he was a year later to end his career. Fournier came in his career to three inserts in the French national team.

Coaching career

During his time at Bastia, he held that office of the coach. In the season 2002/ 03 he was athletic director of Pacy Vallée- d'Eure Football. From 2003 to February 2005, he was coach of the second team of Paris SG, and then subsequently to take up the post of the coach of the first team. There it held him until 27 December 2005. After almost two years of break Fournier took over on 2 October 2007 that coach of Olympique Nimes, but December 15 of the same year was the post again. After another long pause, he took over at the start of the 2009/10 season that helm at U.S. Créteil. However, this item was released on 8 June 2010, one day later to take the job at third division Racing Strasbourg. This he left in the summer of 2011 and subsequently wrote at AJ Auxerre. Since Summer 2013 Laurent Fournier trained third division Red Star.
