Laurie Spiegel

Laurie Spiegel ( born September 20, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American composer.

Life

Mirror played in their youth guitar, banjo and mandolin. After a study of the social sciences, she studied in London private classical guitar and composition. After that they had at the Juilliard School of Music lessons in Renaissance and Baroque lute and studied composition with Jacob Druckman and Vincent Persichetti

In the 1970s, the mirror was one of the pioneers of computer music in New York and algorithms used for their compositions. Works from this period appeared on the album The Expanding Universe at the label Philo. Later they moved away from the New York avant-garde scene. In spite of complex compositional structures and the use of modern electronic technology is in their compositions the musical expression in the foreground.
