Lauschied

Lauschied is a municipality in the district of Bad Kreuznach in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Bad Sobernheim.

Geography

Lauschied situated on a hill in Glan- near- triangle. To the north is Meddersheim, in the east Abtweiler, to the south and west is Desloch Bärweiler.

History

By 1200, the village was first mentioned in documents as Lubescheid.

1797 and 1798 remained John Buckler, called Schinderhannes, Germany's most famous robbers, in Lauschied on. The shoemaker John Leyendecker from Lauschied regarded as the intellectual instigator of many crimes of Schinderhannes. Leyendecker was probably one of the few comrades of Schinderhannes that had this intellectual equal or even superior. 1816 to 1866 belonged to Lauschied Oberamt Meisenheim of Hesse- Homburg and came up with this in 1866 to Prussia.
