Lautenwerck

According to The Piano ( Lautenclavicymbel ) is a keyboard instrument from the Baroque music period, similar to the harpsichord. However, the strings are not made of metal but of (double) gut strings. This makes the piano sound sounds softer than a harpsichord. It should also have been combinations of two registers gut strings and a register of metal.

Johann Sebastian Bach, who had two such instruments, described the sound as a piano Lautenwerck.

While this instrument are in the literature mentions several, no original piano sound is obtained. However, there are some copies of recently. Much of the historical information is based on three German instrument makers of the 18th century: Johann Christoph Fleischer from Hamburg, Johann Nicolaus Bach and Zacharias Hildebrandt.
