Lauterach (Württemberg)

Lauterach is a small municipality in the Alb -Donau-Kreis in Baden- Württemberg. The municipality belongs to the administrative community Munderkingen. Lauterach is a large part of his district ( 92.2 %) part of the biosphere area Swabian Alb.

Geography

Geographical Location

Lauterach is on the edge of the Swabian Alb, where Grosse Lauter flows into the Danube, about 35 km southwest of Ulm.

Structure

The municipality still include not only Lauterach the districts of Neuburg, Talheim and rich stone.

Neighboring communities

The municipality is bordered to the north and east Ehingen, to the south and Untermarchtal Obermarchtal, and to the west by Rechtenstein and Emeringen.

History

Lauterach, whose name derives from the River Lauter name was first mentioned in documents in 1229. After changing several dominions the area in 1803 (except Talheim that followed until 1806) finally came to Württemberg. With establishment of the Oberamts Zwiesel 1809 today's municipal area was allocated to this, but came in 1810 to the upper office Ehingen. Since the municipal reorganization in 1938 Lauterach belonged to the district of Ehingen who came up on 1 January 1973 in the Alb - Donau district. In 1973, joined the congregation of the administrative community Munderkingen and was able to get their independence.

Neuburg

Neuburg was first documented in the 1260er -Jahren. It was incorporated in 1803 to Lauterach.

Hory

Rich stone was first mentioned in documents in 1276. It originated as a hamlet around the castle of the same. The base situated therein Laufenmühle was first mentioned in 1492 under the name of the mulin Lauffen. Hory was incorporated in 1812 to Lauterach.

Talheim

Talheim is the oldest Teilort Lauterachs, it was already mentioned in 776. Since 1743 it belonged to the counts of Fugier before it fell to Württemberg in 1806 and was assigned there Oberamt Ehingen. 1815 Talheim was incorporated into Lauterach.

Religions

Lauterach is predominantly Catholic. In addition to the parish church in the district of Neuburg also chapels exist in the other districts. The Sisters of Mercy of St. Vincent de Paul in Untermarchtal operate in the district Talheim a rest home for nuns.

The few Protestant residents Lauterachs belong to the Church community in Mundingen.
