Lauwil (Basel German: Louel ) is a municipality in the district of Waldenburg in the canton of Basel -Country in Switzerland.

Geography

Lauwil lies at the foot of Basellandschaftliche Jura chain. The village is at 634 meters and belongs to the district of Waldenburg. Its neighboring municipalities are Reigoldswil, Bretzwil, Nunningen, Mümliswil and Beinwil.

History

1194 Luiwilre is called the first time. In the Middle Ages Lauwil belonged to froburgischen rule of Waldenburg. But the Lords of Ramstein and the monastery Schoental had property in the village.
