Law of attraction

As a Law of Attraction (English law of attraction ), and resonance-law or law of resonance, in the self-help and life coaching literature, the assumption is known that like attracts like. This notion refers specifically to the relationship between the thoughts and feelings of a person and their conditions of life. It is assumed that a legitimate analogy between the inner and outer world. This analogy should be harnessed by trying to bring about by a change in personal attitude to given external circumstances an analogous change in these circumstances in the desired direction.

Its origin is the term Law of Attraction in the U.S. New Thought movement ( engl. New Thought Movement ). The screenwriter and producer Rhonda Byrne put in their movie The Secret and her book of the same name, the law of attraction for the first time in front of a larger audience.

In many cases, build modern success coaching and life coaching on this concept, to come up with the aim of a positive attitude to more success, wealth, and personal happiness. The users often rely attention to the hermetic; they argue that the " law of attraction" is based on the so-called Seven Hermetic Laws ( Kybalion ).

The Law of Attraction - theoretical justification

The authors, who come from the validity of the law of attraction, judge it as a universal principle of all reality:

The law of attraction applies generally, for everything and everyone. It applies to everything that exists. Every thought we think, every feeling we feel, attracts similar or identical thoughts and feelings. There is already sufficient that we look at something carefully. This creates thought and every thought causes corresponding feelings and vibration patterns produced [ ... ].

These considerations are based on the assumption that everything spiritual - that thoughts, feelings, fears and desires - produces " vibrations ". These vibrations are to be transferred from the person who produces them to the outside world and there cause corresponding effects, regardless of whether the person is aware of it or not. This thesis is derived, a connoisseur and use the law of attraction can make his wishes come true of focusing his attention. The Law of Attraction is therefore perceived as a tool with which everyone can live his life according to his wishes.

For a theoretical support for the hypothesis of an association with quantum mechanics is sometimes asserted.

The currently best known reception is the movie and the book The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. The author refers to a mysterious century-old book, which she claims to have found by chance and where the "secret" will be described. There, Plato, Newton, Hugo, Beethoven, Lincoln, Emerson, Edison and Einstein were listed as an expert and use the law of attraction. Author and title of the book identifies Byrne is not unique, but it refers to the works of authors Robert Collier and Charles F. Haanel. It leads to various references, which should give their theory a scientific and practical living background. This includes, for example, as the author of the marketing books known Joe Vitale. It compares in Byrnes book thoughts with magnets, where a specific frequency was associated with which they magnetically attract all objects with the same wavelength. Some of the authors, to which Byrnes cites, however distanced after the release of the statements attributed to them, claiming their comments on the issues raised had been misrepresented.

The esoteric authors Esther and Jerry Hicks represented in her book The Law of Attraction. The Cosmic Law behind " The Secret ", the view that man " ... the creative control of his bodily experiences owns" the law of attraction accordingly, and speak of a " science of conscious creation " according to the principle of " What I think think or expect, that is. " They claim to have received their knowledge of the Law of Attraction from a group other than physical beings who operate under the name "Abraham"; it had been conveyed to them through the medium of Esther Hicks.

Object points

In the Süddeutsche Zeitung, an article that deals critically with Byrnes theory appeared. There, the journalist Esma Anemon Dil believes that it was above all a money-making machine, the verhelfe not the reader and user, but the authors to wealth and happiness. A particular danger sees Dil fact that even serious problems like cancer would be displayed as simplistic and mentally influenced. This could, in the worst case lead to a pathological distortion of self - perception and perception ( emergence of a mindset that basically the victim blaming ).
