Lawrence G. Paull

Lawrence G. Paull ( born April 13, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois, United States) is an American art director.

Life

Paull studied until 1968 architecture at the University of Arizona and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts. Following this, he began to work in the field of urban planning. Since 1970 he worked as a production designer in film, initially it was his responsibility to execute the designs of other architects film. In later years he designed independently.

From this time, especially his bleak future worlds in Ridley Scott's Blade Runner deserve attention. He was nominated for an Oscar for this performance and also received the BAFTA and the London Critics ' Circle Film Award. Since then, Paull designed the film architecture to a number of highly professional entertainment movies like Romancing the Stone, Back to the Future and City Slickers. At the turn of the millennium Paull retired from active film business.
