Lawrence Northcott

Lawrence McFarlane " Baldy " Northcott ( born September 7, 1908 in Calgary, Alberta; † 7 November 1986) was a Canadian ice hockey player. Between 1928 and 1939 he played in the National Hockey League for the Montreal Maroons and the Chicago Blackhawks at the positions of the left winger and defender. In 1935, he won with the Maroons the Stanley Cup.

Career

Northcott began his career in the National Hockey League ( NHL) in the 1928/29 season, when he completed five games for the Montreal Maroons. From the following season, the deployable both on the offensive and the defensive players came regularly for the Maroons used. His most successful season was statistically Baldy Northcott in the NHL season 1932/33, when he was able to achieve 22 goals and 43 points scorer in 48 matches played. Due to this performance, he was elected to the NHL First All -Star team this season.

1935 Northcott won with the Montreal Maroons the Stanley Cup after the team in the Stanley Cup final, the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated. In 1937 he took part in the Howie Morenz Memorial Game. After ten seasons with the Maroons Baldy Northcott was issued on September 15, 1938 along with Earl Robinson and Russ Blinco of the Chicago Blackhawks. Montreal received $ 30,000 in return. After a season for Chicago Northcott ended his playing career. He then served as head coach and general manager of the Winnipeg Rangers of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, with whom he won the Memorial Cup in 1941.
