Lawrence of Durham

Lawrence of Durham (English Lawrence of Durham, Latin Laurentius Dunelmensis ), ( * 1110/1114 in Waltham Abbey, † 1154 in France ) was an English Benedictine monk and Middle Latin poet and Bishop of Durham. He was a theological student of Hugh of Saint Victor.

He stepped around 1128 in the northern English monastery of Durham and was 1147/1149 which Prior In 1153 he became Bishop of Durham. On the way back from its consecration in Rome, he died in 1154 in France.
