Laya Raki

Laya Raki (* July 27 1927 Hamburg / Calvörde; actually Brunhilde Jörns ) is a German film actress and dancer of the first so-called beauty postwar German film, which became internationally known for her roles in English-language films and television productions.

Life

The daughter of an acrobat Maria Althoff and occasional worker (partner acrobats, clowns, tinkers ) Wilhelm Jörns always wanted to be a dancer. The artist name Laya Raki was created by their admiration for the dancer La Jana and her preference for Raki. From 1947 she attracted by dance performances in Dusseldorf, Frankfurt and other major cities stir. Her performance in Berlin in 1950 became the talk of the town.
