Layton is a city in Davis County in the U.S. state of Utah. It is the largest city in the county.

Geography

The coordinates of Layton are 41 ° 4 ' 40 "N, 111 ° 57' 18" W. The site covers an area of 54 km ², of which 0.3 km ² water surface. The local altitude is 4,356 feet above sea level. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city had about 58,474 inhabitants in 2000. Up to 2004, the population increased to 61 205. Layton is about 11 miles south of Ogden and 23 miles north of Salt Lake City. It is bounded by the Wasatch Mountains to the east and west of the Great Salt Lake. History

In 1850, the first Mormons settled in the area around Kaysville - Layton. 1882 Farmer moved two miles north some vo Kaysville. The area was first called Kays Creek.
