Lazar Berman

Lazar Berman Naumovich (Russian Лазарь Наумович Берман; born February 26, 1930 in Leningrad † 6 February 2005 in Florence) was a Russian pianist.

He made ​​his first appearance at the age of seven years in Moscow's Bolshoi Theatre. His talent was encouraged from 1939 through an apprenticeship with Alexander Gold Weiser, Vladimir Sofronizki and Sviatoslav Richter at the Moscow Conservatory on.

Berman was first concerts in the Soviet Union and the Eastern Bloc. His priorities were works by Liszt and Beethoven. His development as a pianist of international renown began under Herbert von Karajan, under whose direction he recorded Tchaikovsky's B flat minor Piano Concerto.
