Lazarevac (Serbian Лазаревац; Zenobitz German ) is a town and municipality in the district of Belgrade in Serbia. The city has 23,600 inhabitants and the surrounding villages of the municipality of about 62,000 inhabitants. The city is located 161 meters above sea level. The municipality covers an area of ​​383.51 km ².

History

1880 included the settlement, which had emerged from the village Šopića, about 49 inhabitants. According to the 1961 census, the city already counted 3700 inhabitants. With the onset of industrialization under socialism, the municipality had a total population of 60,000 inhabitants in the 1991 Census. In 1957, the municipality Lazarevac and belonged until 1971 to the district Valjevo. Since 1971 the municipality belongs to the district of Belgrade.

Traffic

Lazarevac lies on the railway line Belgrade - Bar; there hold express and regional trains.
