LBE Nos. 1 to 3

The locomotives with the track numbers 1 to 3 of Lübeck- Büchener Railroad ( LBE ) were streamlined disguised tender locomotives. The machine with the wheel arrangement 1'B1 ' had a two-cylinder steam engine and were wendezugfähig. In order to obtain a symmetrical drive both running axles were designed as salmon bites that were equipped for better guidance with resetting devices.

History

To accelerate the persons Express service between Hamburg and Lübeck, commissioned the LBE 1935, the locomotive factory Henschel in Kassel with the construction of three of these machines. At the same time members of the Lok double-deck cars were in the wagon builders WUMAG in Görlitz and Linke- Hofmann in Wroclaw produced (see also double-deck streamlined Wendezug the LBE ).

The locomotives LBE 1 and 2 were delivered in 1936, Lok LBE 3, the slightly heavier failed with larger water tanks and a larger boiler, he spent one year later. The machine had a top speed of 120 km / h and were used in push-pull operation. Due to their appearance and the gray paint they soon got the nickname " Mickey Mouse ".

The locomotives had an electric remote control device, the controller was operated in the pushed- operation by means of servo motor and roller chain from the train driver in the steering position, the heater took over the remaining tasks. The communication took place by means of rings and telephone.

With the nationalization of the LBE on 1 January 1938, the locomotives were sorted into the numbering scheme of the Reichsbahn as Class 60 with the numbers 60001-60003 and in BW Lübeck, Reichsbahndirektion Schwerin, home. Until the war broke out in 1939 changed nothing in operational use. Then the fast traffic was stopped and the three locomotives should be scrapped.

There have been efforts the machines to the FKE for sale, but these locomotives were designed for rapid transit in the North German plains, and not for the Königstein Railway, which also has very steep sections. In the load test drive arrived from Frankfurt -Höchst 14 cars attached only two in Königstein, the rest had to be gradually decoupled on the track.

The 60 001 was used as Heizlokomotive and went missing in the war. The other two arrived at the Deutsche Reichsbahn. 60 002 knew in the Berlin area until 1958 their service, as of 1960 stood at Bw Wustermark on z and was scrapped in Leipzig in 1967. 60 003 stood until 1954 when Bw Stralsund in the service.
