Le Bioscope

Le Bioscope was an amusement and theme park in Alsace, France.

Located in Colmar and Mulhouse, in southern Alsace Unger home, the park was opened on 1 June 2006 as the first environmental and health park in France. The facility was planned since 1993, the foundation stone took place on 16 October 2004. The park was only open from April to November.

For architecture Frédéric Jung was responsible, who also designed the Musée International de la Parfumerie (International Perfume Museum ) in Grasse. The landscape architect Ursula Kunz took care of the green areas. The park is circular created and criss-crossed by water channels, the centerpiece is a replica of a meteorite impact that shook the area in Ensisheim on 16 November 1492. When the topic of the plant, it is understood that the amusement park was built as environmentally friendly. Such was the energy consumption, water consumption, and integration of the plant into the natural environment in the foreground. The total investment of the Paris Grevin farm operator who has already created the Asterix Park, amounted to 61 million euros.

2008 began a second phase, with which the park will be expanded to 50 hectares. The experience gained so far will influence the decision as to whether the park should continue to put its focus in education or in playfulness. The operator also hoped to 350,000 visitors per year.

In the criticism was the park because he consumes too much space and too bad for the environment. Criticism was also that it was built largely with public funds, while neighboring theme parks such as the Europa-Park in Rust did not receive such funds. Another point of criticism was the plastic flair of the fixtures.
