Le Bourg

Le Bourg ( Occitan: Lo Borg ) is a southern French village with 300 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Lot in the Midi-Pyrénées region. The municipality is part of the Regional Natural Park Causses du Quercy.

Location

Le Bourg is located at an altitude of about 350 meters above sea level. inst on the southwestern edge of the Massif Central approximately on the border between the fertile region of Limargue and it is highly distinctive limestone soils of Ségala. The place is located on a side route of the Camino de Santiago ( Via Podiensis ) about halfway between Rocamadour and Gramat and Figeac; the town of Cahors is located about 63 kilometers south-west.

Demographics

History

The origin of the town is closely linked to the founding of a priory of the abbey of Aurillac. In the 16th century church and place suffered destruction during the Wars of Religion ( 1562-1598 ). In 1823, the nearby town of Saint- Médard- la- Garénie was dissolved; their territory was the communities Issepts and Le Bourg struck.
