Le Fied

Le Fied is a commune in the French department of Jura in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Le Fied is located on 528 m above sea level. M., about 17 km northeast of the town of Lons -le- Saunier (air line). The village is located in the Jura, in the central part of the plateau Caledonia (first Jura plateau ), between the valleys of erosion seille ( Cirque de Ladoye ) in the west and the ridge of the Côte de l' Today in the East.

History

The municipality of Le Fied was settled very early. Near the village led by a Roman Road, which linked trade as the former settlements in Poligny and Villard - d'Héria. On the site also several Roman fountains were discovered. The place name comes from the French word fief ( fief ). In 1447, Le Fied was raised to a small independent rule. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France.
