Le Flon

Le Flon is a municipality in the district Veveyse ( German: Vivisbachbezirk ) of the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. It was formed by the merger of the previously independent municipalities Bouloz, Pont ( Veveyse) and Porsel on 1 January 2004. The seat of the municipality is located in Bouloz.

Geography

Le Flon is located about 16 km north of Vevey ( straight line ). The municipality extends to the ridge between the valleys of the Flon in the south and his right-hand side of Bach Maflon in the north, the southernmost tip of Fribourg Mittelland.

The area of ​​9.5 km ² large municipality area includes a portion of the Molasseplateaus east of the upper course of the Broye, in the foothills. The area is crossed from the northeast to the southwest of the Talniederung the Flon. Also, the left side of the valley and the forest region Bois du Riez belongs largely to Le Flon. To the north of the valley includes a ridge, which forms the main settlement area of ​​the municipality and to the Forest Heights La Râpe (888 m above sea level. At Le Flon also includes the hamlet of Les Grandes Bruyeres (865 m above sea level. M. ) at Bouloz, Perrey -Martin ( 803 m above sea level. M. ) on the ridge above Pont (Veveyse ) as well as all over the area numerous scattered individual farms. Neighboring communities of Le Flon are Chapelle (Glâne ), Rue, Ursy, Siviriez, Vuisternens -devant -Romont, La Verrerie and Saint- Martin in the canton of Fribourg and Oron in the canton of Vaud.

Population

With 1091 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) Le Flon is one of the smaller communities of the Canton of Fribourg. Of the 95.3 % inhabitants are French-speaking, German-speaking 2.4 % and 0.8 % speak Portuguese (as of 2000). The population of Le Flon amounted in 1900 to 730 inhabitants. After the population had risen to 1930 to 808 people by 1980, a clear decrease of more than 25 % to 602 inhabitants was registered. Since then, a significant increase in population was recorded again.

Economy

Flon was until the second half of the 20th century, mainly coined by agriculture village. Even today, animal husbandry and dairying, and to a lesser extent agriculture an important role in the economic structure of the population. More jobs are in small local manufacturing and services available, including companies in the wood processing, cheese production, in construction, computer science and the production of agricultural machinery. In recent decades, Le Flon has also developed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who work mainly in the regions Oron- la -Ville and Châtel -Saint -Denis and in Romont.

Traffic

The municipality is situated on the main street of Romont to Oron -la -Ville. By Bus Transports Publics Fribourgeois, which runs from Romont via Oron- la- Ville Palézieux- Gare, all three villages of Le Flon to the public transport network are connected. Another bus line connects Porsel with Moudon.

History

The municipality of Le Flon was settled very early. Thus, in Porsel traces were found from the Middle Bronze Age and remains of a Roman settlement.

Since the Middle Ages included parts of today's municipal territory to rule Oron, while the Abbey of Haut- Cret had rich land. The Illens family entertained near the mouth of Maflon in the Flon since the 12th century a castle, which made ​​it the center of a small rule. During the 16th century, the area came under the rule of Freiburg and the Bailiwick Rue has been assigned.
