Le Gosier

Le Gosier is a town with 26 739 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the French overseas department of Guadeloupe. The locals call themselves les Gosiériens. The village is situated on the Grande -Terre and is integrated into the agglomeration to Pointe -à- Pitre. In the 17th century, the name Grand Gosier appeared there on the archipelago. As " Gosieres " were referred to in the vernacular the pelicans. Today, tourism plays an important role there.

Monuments

  • L' Îlet du Gosier is a Caribbean island in Le Gosier, by measuring a kilometers. A special feature are the corals there.
  • The Aquarium de Guadeloupe is an oversized aquarium with 35 tanks that hold a total of around 200,000 liters of water.
  • The Fort Fleur d' épée is a former fortress. It was built 1750-1763 by architect Sébastien Le Preste de Vauban and served at that time the French military under the leadership of Victor Hugues.
