Le Journal du Dimanche

Le Journal du Dimanche ( JDD ) is a French Sunday newspaper.

JDD was founded as a Sunday edition of the daily newspaper France Soir 1948 by Pierre Lazareff and continued as an independent weekly newspaper with 52 issues per year since 1976. The journal is divided into the topics news, sports, culture and (since 1999 ) Economic and appear in September 1999 with a special issue of Paris. JDD had a circulation of 263 208 copies sold with a range of 1.151 million readers in 2005.

JDD is a majority stake of 60 % held by the French publishing group Hachette Filipacchi Médias (HFM ), a subsidiary of the Group Lagardère SCA, the remaining 40 % is held by the controlled by Serge Dassault Press Group Socpresse.

Head was, inter alia, from 1999 to December 2005, Jean -Claude Maurice, who was by Jacques Espérandieux ( formerly of Le Parisien ) replaced, in December 2005.

In 2007, the journal was known by the censorship of an article about the former wife of Nicolas Sarkozy, Cécilia Sarkozy, who had not gone in the second round of the presidential election to election. Arnaud Lagardère, the principal owner should have intervened by telephone in favor of Nicolas Sarkozy here. The next year, Jacques Espérandieux was replaced by Christian de Villeneuve.
