Le Nouvelliste (Haiti)

Le Nouvel list is a French -language daily newspaper that is printed in Haiti and distributed throughout the country, especially in the capital and larger cities. From its chief editor Frantz Duval their political orientation of the center-right is assigned.

It is the largest and oldest newspaper of Haiti and also the oldest French-language newspaper of the American continent. At the same time it is the only newspaper that is currently being printed in Haiti because of the pressure from its competitors, Le Matin takes place in the Dominican Republic.

History

The newspaper was founded on May 2, 1898 by Guillaume Chéraquit under the name of Le Matin and 15 months later renamed Le Nouvel list. With the pressure Chéraquit commissioned his friend Henri Chauvet.

On the occasion of the earthquake in Haiti in January 2010, the building suffered severe damage from Le Nouvel list, and the newspaper spread the information through its website, as a result of damage to the pressure of the expenditure was no longer possible. On April 6, 2010, issue of the printed edition could be resumed. The seat was moved from the center of the capital to Petionville, and the original number of 24 editors was reduced to half.

Before the earthquake, the circulation was 15,000 copies, with the resumption of the publication in April 2010, it was reduced to 10,000.
