Le pigeon aux petit pois (French: Dove with green peas) is a painting by Pablo Picasso.

History

The picture was painted in 1911 and is a major work of Picasso's Cubist period. The materials are oil on canvas. It turns ocher, gray and brown tones a cubist distorted pigeon with peas, on which the pigeons claw and the little peas are recognizable and whose upper right corner is the word café, represents a year later it acquired the art collector Maurice Girardin (1884-1951) for 850 - FF.1937 it was exhibited at the International Exhibition of Arts and Techniques in Modern Life at the Paris world Exhibition. The museum received the artwork from the legacy of Dr. Girardin in 1953. The value of the image is estimated at 23 million euros.

Le pigeon aux petits pois was last uninsured at the Museum of Modern Art ( Musée d' Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris) in Paris' 16th arrondissement, where it was stolen on May 20, 2010.
