Le Rove

Le Rove is a commune with 4456 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Bouches -du -Rhône in the Provence- Alpes- Côte d' Azur.

Geography

The community lies on the one hand between Martigues and Marseille, on the other hand, between the Mediterranean in the south and the marsh to the north. The municipality is part of the Urban Community of Marseille Provence Métropole. 2000 acres, 87 percent of its territory, are under protection.

History

As early as the Stone Age caves were inhabited at the present municipality. Already in the early Bronze Age settlement existed, the Camp de Laure, the first of its kind in Provence. 1835 Le Rove was a separate municipality.
