Le Val-de-Gouhenans

Le Val -de- Gouhenans is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Le Val -de- Gouhenans situated at an altitude of 290 m above sea level, 7 km south of Lure and about 24 km east of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in a slightly elevated position on the southern edge of the plain of Lure, east of Talniederung of Rahin.

The area of ​​3.88 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the level of Lure. The main part of the territory occupied by the alluvial plain of the rivers Ognon and Rahin, which is on average 280 m. The Rahin flows through the municipal area and ends just outside the Ognon. The plane is mainly consisted of arable and meadow land. To the east, the municipality area extends into the vast forest area of Grand Bois, in the 323 meters, the highest elevation of Le Val -de- Gouhenans is achieved. In this forest there is also the Etang Elion.

Neighboring communities of Le Val -de- Gouhenans are Vouhenans in the north, Gouhenans the east and south, as well as Les Aynans in the West.

History

First mentioned is the place in 1272 under the name Le Vaul de Gouhenans. The origin of the place probably formed a priory of the Knights Templar. In the Middle Ages Le Val -de- Gouhenans belonged to the rule Gouhenans which was dependent on the Lords of Granges. During the Thirty Years' War, the village was destroyed. Together with the Franche- Comté reached Le Val -de- Gouhenans with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. By purchasing the area came in 1703 Toussaint at Devault, who had a palace built here. Today, Le Val -de- Gouhenans is a member of the comprehensive 22 villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Pays de Lure.

Population

With 58 inhabitants ( 2004) Le Val -de- Gouhenans one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Haute- Saône. After the number of inhabitants had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1896 98 people were still counted ), a population growth was recorded since the early 1980s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Le Val -de- Gouhenans was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Even today, working in the village inhabitants live on the merits of the activity in the first sector. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in the village. Some employed persons are also commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road that leads from Lure to L' Isle- sur -le- Doubs. Further road links exist with Les Aynans, Gouhenans and La Vergenne.
