Le Vaud

Le Vaud is a municipality in the district of Nyon in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland.

Geography

Le Vaud is located at 815 m above sea level. M., 11 km north of the district main town Nyon ( straight line ). The village stretches along the Jura south slope, between the streams Ruisseau du Geny in the west and Serine in the east, in a scenic location around 450 m above the lake level of Lake Geneva.

The area of ​​3.1 km ² large municipality area includes a portion of the Jura south slope. The municipality is bordered by the valleys of the two streams Ruisseau du Geny and Serine. History

The first mention of today's local name dates back to the year 1300. At that time the name Au Vaud appeared, and later you Vaud. The name is derived from vulgar Latin Valdus (forest ).
