Lea Massari

Lea Massari (* June 30, 1933 in Rome; native Anna Maria Massetani ) is an Italian actress.

Life

Massari grew up in Spain and France, most recently in Switzerland, where she studied at the beginning of the 50's architecture. At the same time, she worked as a model and came through the mediation of costume and film production designer Piero Gherardi for the film.

Massari worked since 1954 as a delicate, girl in love in several Italian films. She gained international recognition in 1960 in Michelangelo Antonioni's classic The play with love as dreamy Anna, who vanished without a trace during a stay on the island.

In the 60s and 70s she took part in numerous Italian and French productions, most of which were based in the world of the upper middle class. Massari embodied therein predominantly loving women. Later she was subscribed to the role of soulful, sympathetic mother, such as in Louis Malle's incestuous Youth Film atrial fibrillation (1971 ), which attracted international attention. In 1973 she received for her life's work a Étoile de Cristal for Best Foreign Actress. She was a member of the jury at the Cannes Film Festival in 1975. Four years later she received for her supporting role in Francesco Rosi Oscar -nominated film Christ Stopped at Eboli (1979 ) the Nastro d' Argento the Sindacato Nazionale Giornalisti Cinematografici Italiani.
