League of Struggle for the Emancipation of the Working Class

The St. Petersburg League of Struggle for liberation of the working class (Russian союз борьбы за освобождение рабочего класса ) was founded in 1895 by Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov (Lenin) and his then still close friend Julius Martov. It was one of the first workers 'political organizations in Russia and one of the forerunners of the later Social Democratic Workers' Party of Russia ( RSDLP ).

The leader of the League of Struggle were Vasily Vasilyevich Starkov, Gleb Maximilianowitsch Krzhizhanovsky, Alexander Leontyevich Maltschenko Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov (Lenin), Pyotr Kuzmich Saporoschez, Julius Martov and Anatoly Alexandrovich Ossipowitsch Wanejew.

The Fighting League wrote revolutionary pamphlets and had just been arrested with the preparations for his own newspaper, the Rabocheye Delo ( Workers' Cause ), is concerned, as some of its members on the night of 20 to 21 December 1895. Later it turned out that a supposedly Marxist member, a dentist named Dr. Mikhailov, had worked for the Russian police. Mikhailov was found murdered shortly after took place in February 1897 arrest of members of the League of Struggle.

Those arrested were convicted and sent to the part into exile to Siberia.
