Leap-The-Dips

Leap the Dips at Lakemont Park ( Altoona, Pennsylvania ) is a side -friction wooden coaster by Edward Joy Morris, which was opened in 1902. It is the world's oldest, latter still operating roller coaster and the last side friction roller coaster in North America. She was in operation until 1985, but then had to be closed due to Baufälligkeiten. 1997 could be started with the renovations after appropriate capital was available through a capital raising measure. On May 31, 1999 Memorial Day, the track was reopened.

The 443 meter long track reaches a height of 13 m, but only has a first drop of 3 m at an incline of 25 °.

Leap the Dips is listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996 and was awarded a National Historic Landmark.
