Leathermouth

Leathermouth is founded in 2007, American hardcore punk band, whose singer and founder of My Chemical Romance guitarist Frank Iero.

Band History

Frank Iero had some old friends who were playing in different bands and had now decided to establish a common bond. They played before Iero some of their pieces that they had already taken himself. This was thrilled and I was determined to participate in the success of this band. He suggested to take them to his label Skeleton Crew under contract once they have found a singer. After Iero came back from a tour with My Chemical Romance, he asked the band if they had already found someone for the part of the singer. They had now indeed a singer, but this could manage no useful Lyrics since he was very inexperienced in this field. From then on Iero took matters into their own hands. He wrote the lyrics and rented a studio where the band could practice. Iero wrote all the lyrics for Leather Mouths debut album in just one week. He was immediately brought as a singer in the band. He played at Pencey Prep, Hybrid, Sector 12, I Am A Graveyard, The Pole Smokin ' Five, Give Up The Ghost, Reggie and the Full Effect and The Cure tribute band called Love Cats.

In 2008, the band signed with Epitaph Records instead, as was first planned in Ieros label Skeleton Crew, fearing that it might be too complicated to promote the album and at the same time to the other bands on his label and in addition to My Chemical Romance worry about. Brett Gurewitz, president of Epitaph Records, was so impressed by the first demos and its intensity that he agreed immediately. According Iero it had always been his dream to be with a band at Epitaph under contract.

In January 2009, their first album with the name XO has been published.

Critics argue that the style of the band was inspired by the hardcore punk of the 1980s. According Iero but they were the horror films from this period that have influenced him greatly.

In an interview from 2012 Iero revealed that the other band members in the project would no longer be interested, as they have now found religion. He himself would Leathermouth not hang up, but if there is some point new music, is itself unclear to him.
