Leavittsburg is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Trumbull County, Ohio, United States. According to the 2000 census the population was 2,200.

Census-designated places are areas that are statistically recorded specifically from the United States Census Bureau, but the management of a superior administrative unit, usually one townships, are assumed. Leavittsburg is part of the metropolitan Youngstown - Warren - Boardman.

History

Leavittsburg was part of the Connecticut Western Reserve, from the John Leavitt and his family from Suffield in Connecticut bought land. The family here has their burial ground.

Leavittsburg should a market town and county seat in Trumbull County are, but Warren displaced Leavittsburg in this endeavor. The area remained predominantly woodland. On March 15, 1864 a post office was opened under the name Leavittsburgh, the spelling was changed on July 19, 1893 Leavittsburg.
