Lebanon is the county seat ( county seat ) of Laclede County in the U.S. state of Missouri in the United States of America and has 12,155 inhabitants with a population density of 344.3 inhabitants / km ² (2000 ). Lebanon is the birthplace of the architect Antoine Predock and the playwright Lanford Wilson.

Geography

The town is located south of the geographic center of Missouri on Interstate 44, the part of the better-known Route 66 is here, about 90 km northeast of Springfield, about 250 km north- west of Kansas City and has a total area of 35.4 km ², of which 0 1 km ² water surface are.

History

1849, in the formation of Laclede County, Lebanon was elected to the district capital, but then had the name Wyota, renamed later after the Indians who lived here before, and was after the town in Lebanon Tennessee. The first settlers in the area to have been in 1820 Jesse Ballew. During the American Civil War, the city was often occupied either by the troops of the Union and the Confederate States.
