History

The Lebanese national team debut at the European Basketball Championship in 1949. Absence of other continental championships, the European Championship was then held open so that could also participate in teams from Africa and Asia. After Lebanon has once again participated in the European Championships in 1953, the team was able to take a long time to not tournaments. After the end of the civil war in Lebanon, the national team was revived and was able to qualify three times in a row for the World Championships. Because of differences between the Lebanese government and the Lebanese Association, was established in July 2013 FIBA suspended the membership Lebanon indefinitely and excluded the national team from all competitions.

Achievements

The greatest successes of Lebanon are the profits of silver medals at the Asian Basketball Championships 2001 in Shanghai (China ), 2005 in Doha ( Qatar) and 2007 in Tokushima (Japan).
