Life of Orestes is a grand opera in 5 acts and 8 pictures by Ernst Krenek. Krenek wrote the libretto and composed the opera between August 8, 1928 to May 13, 1929. On January 19, 1930, the opera was first performed in Leipzig.

Action

Behind closed curtains sings a chorus of longing for a southern country. The curtain rises, and Anastasia reported on the lively palace forecourt of the impending war. Agamemnon exhorts the crowd in short sentences, leaving the tumult forcibly disperse. Aegisthus submit to the king, a proposal to sacrifice to the gods one of his descendants. The king should not bring it into connection before the Queen and the family. Clytemnestra has meanwhile Orestes and Anastasia fleeing to Phokisland. As you lead the people back to the forecourt, Agamemnon Orestes is fleeing known then makes itself popular unrest, which senses a betrayal, broad.
