Leck (Nordfriesland)

Leakage (Danish: LAEK, Frisian: Leek ) is a municipality in the north of the district of North Friesland. The community is a sub- center in terms of the regional plan for the State of Schleswig -Holstein.

Geography

The community leakage is a few miles south of the Danish border, about 30 kilometers west of Flensburg and about 20 kilometers east of the North Sea coast. The town lies on the western edge of Schleswig Geest back. This position was decisive for the development of the place. It is assumed that the Wadden Sea and thus also filed the waters of the North Sea over the centuries up to the embankment up to the Geestrand. History

The first mention was made in 1231 as a royal estate in medium size in Erdbuch of the Danish King Waldemar II At that time belonged to the Duchy of Schleswig leak. Religions

In leak there is an Evangelical Lutheran congregation, which owns the 800-year- old St. Willehad Church in the town center. This has a two-winged altar ( reredos ) from the workshop of Clausberg.

The Catholic church is affiliated with the Niebüller parish, but has its own small church available. Leak is part of the Catholic Deanery Flensburg in the archbishopric of Hamburg.

The Danish Lutheran church has a small church in the village.

On January 1, 1974, the former municipalities were integrated Klintum and Easter Schnatebüll.

Municipal council

Since the local elections of 2008, the municipal council had 19 seats. Of the seven CDU voters Community UWL five, the four SPD and the SSW had three seats. Business, education and infrastructure

The printing Clausen & Bosse is one of the largest industrial companies in the region and one of the largest book manufacturer in Germany. Around 600 people are employed here. The rise began in 1950 with the paperback printing for Random House.

The Central Tax Office North Friesland also has its headquarters in leakage.

The village has a primary and a community school and a Danish comprehensive school. The nearest high school is located in the neighboring Niebüll.

Leak is the seat of the North Sea Academy, a state-funded educational institution of the German border association.

Traffic

Leak is located on the main road 199 The North Sea is 20 km, to the Baltic Sea near Flensburg and the Danish border 30 km 20 km away. Bike paths are available at the B 199 to Flensburg and Klixbüll of Klixbüll continue on the main road 5 to Niebüll and the Danish border, at the L 5 by Enge-Sande at the L 212 after Medelby. Leak was still important intermediate station of the railway line Flensburg- Soft -Lindholm, which was shut down in 1981. For strategic reasons (NATO concept) the route was first obtained. Today, these motivations are omitted; nevertheless, the route is still passable. A reopening of the railway line has been considered several times, but never put into action. This is partly due to the parallel bus, which better connects the villages, including leak. However, one can take a trolley from leak until after Unaften.
