Lecompte is a town in Rapides Parish in the U.S. state of Louisiana. In the 2010 census Lecompte had 1,227 inhabitants, a decrease of 10.2 percent on the census in 2000.

Geography

Lecompte is located almost in the extreme southeast of the county, near the geographic center of Louisiana and has according to the United States Census Bureau, a total area of one square mile ( 2.6 km ²).

History

The town of Lecompte was named after a racehorse of the Wells family, the south of the city had a plantation. The successful horse named " LeComte " won many races on the track of the Fair Grounds in New Orleans.
