Lecompte is a town in Rapides Parish in the U.S. state of Louisiana. In the 2010 census Lecompte had 1,227 inhabitants, a decrease of 10.2 percent on the census in 2000.
Geography
Lecompte is located almost in the extreme southeast of the county, near the geographic center of Louisiana and has according to the United States Census Bureau, a total area of one square mile ( 2.6 km ²).
History
The town of Lecompte was named after a racehorse of the Wells family, the south of the city had a plantation. The successful horse named " LeComte " won many races on the track of the Fair Grounds in New Orleans. Located on the historic " Lecompte High School ", listed on the NRHP with the number 92001251 was, " LeComte " honored on the first page in the yearbook of the school with a photo.

The average household size was 2.65 and the average family size was 3.38 persons.
28.9 percent of the total city population was under 18 years, 10.9 percent between 18 and 24, 24.2 percent between 25 and 44 in age, 20.6 percent between 45 and 64, and 15.4 percent were 65 or older. The average age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 79 males; per 100 women who were 18 years or older, there were 75.0 males.
The median income for a household in Lecompte was 18,708 U.S. dollars for a family was $ 23,897. Males had a median income of $ 22,361, as opposed to women with $ 15,250.
