Ledi Bianku

Ledi Bianku ( born February 22, 1971 in Shkodër ) is an Albanian legal scholars and judges at the European Court of Human Rights.

Life

Bianku studied from 1989 to 1993 Law at the University of Tirana and spent during this time a year abroad at the University of Trento. After graduating, he worked from 1994 to 2006 as an attorney in Tirana. This activity was interrupted only by a short interlude to the OSCE in Albania in 1998 and 1999.

From 1995 to 2007 he taught European and International Law at the University of Tirana, from 1997, in addition to the Albanian School of Magistrates. From 1996 to 1997 he took a Master in European Law at the College of Europe in Brussels.

In 1999 Bianku one of the founders of the European Centre in Tirana, which he headed until 2006 as Executive Director. Between 2000 and 2007 he served as a personal advisor to the Albanian President, Speaker of Parliament and the Minister of Justice and European integration.

From 2006 to 2007 he served as a member of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe and was also Chairman of the National Broadcasting Authority of Albania. Since February 1, 2008 he has been a judge at the European Court of Human Rights.
