Lee Altus

Lee Altus ( born May 13, 1966 in Odessa is an American guitarist of Ukrainian descent. He plays for the bands Heathen and Exodus. Middle of the 1990s he was active in the German band Die Krupps.

Career

Altus grew up in the Soviet Union, the son of a conductor and an opera singer and wanted to be in his youth, professional hockey player. When he moved at the age of 16 years with his family to California, he was given a guitar by his parents, where he practiced daily for up to 15 hours. Mostly he played after his favorite albums. Altus put his focus while on rock and metal, but also tried to incorporate elements of classical music. His influences were Ritchie Blackmore, Uli Jon Roth, Michael Schenker, Gary Moore and John Sykes.

In April 1985, he was among the founding members of the band Heathen, for which he wrote most of the music. Altus played with a Heathen two albums Breaking the Silence and Victims of Deception. In the meantime, Altus was the band Megadeth as a substitute for the stepped out Jeff Young in conversation. However, he declined the offer after he experienced at band rehearsals, Megadeth singer Dave Mustaine his fellow musicians constantly berated and sometimes spat. In 1993, along with drummer Darren Minter Altus to the German band Die Krupps. With this band he played the albums II - an Odyssey of the Mind and Paradise Now - The Final Option, III. The end of 1997 left Altus because of disagreement with singer Jürgen Engler the Krupps and returned to the United States.

On the occasion of the "Thrash -of -the- Titans" Festival for the cancerous Testament vocalist Chuck Billy, there was a reunion of Heathen. After several concerts the band played their first demo in 2005. Since Heathen received a recording contract with this demo, to Altus joined the band Exodus. Altus is on the Exodus Shovel Headed Kill Machine albums and The Atrocity Exhibition - "- The human condition Exhibit B" to hear Exhibit A and Let There Be Blood and. In 2010 he published with the new album Heathen The Evolution of Chaos.
