Lee Grant

Lee Grant ( born October 31, 1925 in New York City; actually Lyova Haskell Rosenthal ) is an American actress (Oscar in 1975 for her supporting role in shampoo ) and director.

Life and work

Lee Grant was nominated for her film debut in 1952 in police station 21 for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress and received for this rather small role Actor Award at the International Film Festival of Cannes 1952. Along with two other nominations for The Landlord (1970) and Voyage of the Damned (1976 ) she won the Oscar in 1975 for her role in shampoo. She also acted in television roles and won two Emmys, in 1964 as Best Supporting Actress in Peyton Place and 1971 for Best Actress in The Neon Ceiling. In 1987 she participated in the movie Chicago Blues. Lee Grant also directs, mostly in documentation ( celebrity portraits).

Lee Grant was married to his first wife, from 1951 to 1960 with screenwriter Arnold Manoff and has one daughter ( Dinah Manoff, born 25 January 1958). His second wife is married to the producer Joseph Feury since 1962.
