Lee Morin

Lee Miller Emile Morin ( born September 9, 1952 in Manchester, New Hampshire State, USA) is an American astronaut.

Morin received a bachelor's degree in mathematics and electrical engineering from the University of New Hampshire in 1978 and a master's in biochemistry from New York University in 1974. Also from New York University in 1981, he received a doctorate in medicine and microbiology in 1982. In 1988 he received from the University of Alabama at Birmingham a Masters in Health Sciences.

In 1974, Morin worked at the MIT Media Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. After the resumption of his studies Morin worked at the Bronx Municipal Hospital Center and the Montefiore Hospital Medical Center in New York City.

In 1983, he entered active duty in the U.S. Navy. He spent two years as medical officer on the submarine USS Henry M. Jackson before he was trained from 1985 in Pensacola (Florida ) to the flight surgeon. Shortly after his retirement he was called up again for use in Bahrain for the second Gulf War in August 1990. From 1992 to 1996 he worked again in Pensacola at the Naval Aerospace and Operational Medical Institute ( NAOMI ).

Astronauts activity

In April 1996, Morin was selected by NASA as an astronaut candidate and was subsequently trained in the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center mission specialist. After various tasks in an astronaut office, he took between one year of work at the U.S. State Department. He is currently back in the astronaut office at the development of the cockpit for the new spacecraft Orion.

STS -110

On 8 April 2002 Morin flew aboard the space shuttle Atlantis to the International Space Station (ISS). Here, the lattice structure element S0 and a rail car to the ISS were brought. The as " Mobile Transporter" designated sled uses a directory on the grid elements laid rail system. Together with his colleague Jerry Ross Morin led by two of the four spacewalks (EVA ) of the mission.

Lee Morin is married and has two children.
