Lee Sharpe

Lee Stuart Sharpe ( born May 27 1971 in Halesowen, West Midlands ) is a former English footballer. He played a total of 8 times for England.

Football career

Sharpe began his career at Torquay United. After just one season, the 16 -year-old was discovered in 1988 and is committed to Manchester United. He quickly captured a permanent place on the left wing and was one of the most important pillars upon winning the European Cup in 1991. During the same year he was appointed for the first time in the national team, but did not succeed to oust John Barnes and should not for a long time be appointed.

After an injury - he was suffering from meningitis - he was also displaced at Manchester United on his position from emerging Ryan Giggs and had to switch to other positions. Nevertheless, he brought it in 8 years to 265 missions, scoring 36 goals.

1996 Leeds United signed him despite his susceptibility to injury and was even willing to pay £ 4.5 million for him, which is a club record. After he had yet come in 1996/97 to 26 inserts for Leeds, a knee injury in the following season forced him to suspend completely. In the summer of 1998, he was then loaned to Sampdoria, but where he could not prevail, and therefore already returned to the winter break.
