Lee Strobel

Lee Strobel ( born January 25, 1952 in Arlington Heights, Illinois ) is an American author and former journalist and pastor. He is considered one of the best known contemporary Christian apologists.

Lee Strobel studied journalism at the University of Missouri and law at Yale Law School. He worked fourteen years as a court reporter for the Chicago Tribune and has received several awards for his reporting.

Through a sermon by Bill Hybels of Willow Creek Community Church encouraged, he began in 1980 to deal with Christianity and interviewed experts such as Bruce M. Metzger, Ben Witherington, and Edwin M. Yamauchi. The findings were published later in his book "The Case of Jesus: a journalist in search of the truth " - he was convinced in his own words of the arguments presented.

Strobel became active in the Willow Creek Township, later gave up his job and worked since 1987 as a pastor and author in Chicago and California. Since 2002 he has concentrated on his literary work. In the English -speaking world, he has sold more than 8.5 million books, his book "The Case of Jesus " experienced in German language already the 9th edition.

Critics accuse him to unilaterally select the arguments and not only conducted interviews with representatives of the Christian standpoint, with opponents. Christian apologists defend Strobel, by indicating that his works are Christian apologetics and do not claim to journalistic neutrality.
