Leesburg is a village in Highland County, Ohio, United States. At the 2000 census the town had 1,253 inhabitants, 98.5 % were white.

History

Leesburg was founded in 1801 by Nathanial Pope, John Walters and John Howard. Since 1802, meeting of the Quakers in Leesburg are detectable. 1806 a sawmill and 1814 a hotel was built. With Dr. Havilah Beardsley Leesburg decreed in 1816 for the first time about a doctor. 1830 a steam mill in Leesburg was built. In 1841 there were sermons of the Baptists. In 1852, Methodists, and in 1879 also Seventh- day Adventist Church established themselves in the place. 1867 two school houses were built. 1876 ​​Leesburg bank was founded.

Education

In Leesburg is the Fairfield Local High School. The place has the Leesburg Library through a local library.

Religion

The town has three churches.
