The Leeuwarden railway station is the largest railway station in the Dutch city of Leeuwarden and the province of Friesland. The station is used by approximately 17,000 people a day ( 2005). He is a central hub in urban public transport. At the station, at national regional and long-distance trains. The station is the terminus of all the trains running there.

History

The station was opened with the railway line on 27 October 1863 after Harlingen. The extension to Groningen followed 1866. 1868 was the connection Zwolle - Meppel - Heerenveen in operation. Its present appearance was the station 1904. 2000 the station building was completely renovated and modernized.
