Leevan Sands

Leevan Sands ( born August 16, 1981 in Nassau ) is a Bahamian triple jumper.

At the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester and the IAAF World Championships 2003 Sands won bronze medals. At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, he was eliminated in the qualifying.

Leevan Sands was at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki fourth. In February 2006, he was tested positive for the stimulant Levomethamphetamin and locked for violating the doping guidelines for six months.

At the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, he failed to qualify. The following year, Sands won at the Olympic Games in Beijing in a balanced competition with his personal best of 17.59 meters, the bronze medal, 8 cm behind Nelson Évora and 3 cm behind Phillips Idowu (GBR ) lying. At the world championships 2009 he finished fourth in 2011 and seventh. In 2012 he finished fifth in the Olympic Games.

Leevan Sands is also active in the long jump and scored his personal best of 8.13 meters in Nassau on 10 July 2005.
