Leirfjord is a Norwegian municipality. The name is derived from the same fjord. This in turn is named after the river Leira, which flows into the fjord.

The residents of the community live mainly from agriculture and the use of the sea. Many residents commute to their work in other communities. From Leland is approximately 15 minutes driving time to Sandnessjøen, 45 minutes to Mosjøen and 90 minutes to Mo i Rana.

The 1065 m long bridge Helgelandsbrua is one of the longest in North Norway and crosses the Leirfjord. The bridge connects the municipality with the municipality Leirfjord Alstahaug.
