Leisel Jones
Leisel Marie Jones ( born August 30, 1985 in Katherine, Queensland, Australia) is an Australian swimmer.
Career
Leisel Jones was already 15 years a member of the Australian swimming team in the 2000 Olympics in Sydney. With the World Swimming Championships in 2003, she swam the 100m breast- new world record. At the 2004 Olympics in Athens, she won the gold medal in the 4 × 100 -meter medley relay. In addition, Jones won the silver medal over 200 m breaststroke and bronze over 100m breaststroke.
In the swimming world championships 2005 in Montréal she became world champion over 100 m breaststroke, but lost her world record in the semifinals of the young American Jessica Hardy. In the final of the 200m breaststroke she swam the other hand, a new world record and won before and Mirna Jukic Anne Poleska. Another title she won with the Australian medley relay.
At the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, she managed the first athlete ever to win all discharged distances in breaststroke. Such a hat-trick was previously Petria Thomas only managed at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester in the swimming position butterfly when you first graduated from the 50 -m distance there. About 200 m breaststroke, she won the silver medal behind Soni. On the last day of swimming competitions, she won the gold medal in the 4 × 100 -meter medley relay.
2010 Jones swam at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi about 100 m breaststroke, 200m breaststroke and the 4x100 -meter medley relay in the first place, about 50 m breaststroke on the second place.
